THE LONG 1968

In 2018, the Sheldon Museum of Art sought to recognize a notable year in global history – 1968. This year included political upheavals, the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, student and trade union protests in France, the Tlatelolco massacre in Mexico City, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, the Civil Rights Act of 1968, and much more. The Sheldon Museum of Art decided to honor the 50th year anniversary of 1968 through an exhibition to remind others, not only of that pivotal year but also the years prior.
